What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a naturally occurring altered state of consciousness and deep relaxation. Hypnotherapy creates a state of focussed attention and increased suggestibility, during which positive suggestions and guided visualisation can be used to help overcome challenges.
How does hypnotherapy work?
The mind is made up of the conscious and subconscious parts of the mind.
The conscious mind, which is the active part of the mind when in the normal waking state, is logical and analytic. This is where all cognitive processes take place and any information that is processed is either discarded or passed on to the subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind does not analyse or interpret information, it simply accepts information provided by the conscious mind. This is where all beliefs are held that the conscious mind draws on when interacting with the world.
Hypnotherapy works by inducing a deep state of relaxation to bypass the conscious, analytical mind to challenge limiting beliefs stored in the subconscious mind.
